Martha Stafiniak
1931 - 2024
Martha Stafiniak, 92, of Hometown, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 8, 2024 in her residence. She was the wife of the late Simon “Si” Stafiniak who passed away March 23, 2015. Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Clement and Helen (Oseniak) Adamowicz. She was a housewife but also worked at the Coaldale State Hospital for over 20 years as a switch board operator. She was a graduate of William L. Dickson High School, Jersey City, NJ. She was a member of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale, where she was a member of the ladies’ aid society.
Martha enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, cleaning, baking, and looking after the flowers in her garden. She especially loved Holiday gatherings with her family and was known for her home-made Paska bread.
Surviving are a daughter Nadine Fegley of Ephrata; sons Thomas J. of Woodlyn, PA and Paul of Havertown, PA; a sister Julia Adamchak of Chelsea, MI; grandchildren Josiah S. and Katherine O. Stanley; great grandson Lucas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters Sophie, Ann Adamchak, Emily and Stephanie Porada and a brother Walter.
A Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, 217 First St., Coaldale, Pa 18218 with Rev. James Weremedic officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery, Summit Hill. Call Friday night 6-7:30 P.M. and Saturday morning 9-10:00 A.M. in the Church. A Panchida Service will be held Friday night at 7:30 P.M.
